The Mount – The construction of 12 apartments in Northallerton.
The development of a block of 12 apartments comprises 7 two bedroomed and 5 one bedrooms apartments. The dwellings will be available for over 55’s on a rental basis and will offer occupants great access to the facilities offered by Northallerton’s town centre. Built to a highly thermally efficient standard the development offers electrical heating and hot water, triple glazed windows and highly insulated external envelope meaning low running costs for occupants.
The scheme was designed to complement the adjacent listed Mount Vale Care Home, which at one time in it’s life was a proud Georgian Villa. The elevation has been organised in away to echo a Georgian coach house. The wide bays to the ground floor are reminiscent of coach bay doors and associated track rooms and the smaller apertures above to serve the storage areas.

The building won an LABC brickwork award and had many features including projecting header panes and double height soldiers courses.

The scheme also comprised associated drainage, external works, hard and soft landscaping, parking areas, external communal bin store and cycle storage. In addition to the above an underground surface water tank was installed to manage surface water run off prior to discharge into the main sewer.
