Project

Yarm Primary School, classroom extension

On behalf of the client Stockton Borough Council we have now carried out two phases of work at Yarm Primary School.

The first of the two phases has seen the construction of two extensions to the existing school. The first, the largest, was formed to create a new nursery unit including toilets, quiet room, plant room, entrance lobby, store and wet and dry play areas, and the second smaller extension has increased the size of one of the existing classrooms to provide vital additional teaching space.

The larger extension construction was a steelwork portal frame with traditional block and brick highly insulated cavity wall, flat roof with Sarnafill G Single Layer polymeric covering. Internally the new extensions were fitted out with new mechanical, heating, plumbing and electrical installations. The works were largely undertaken whilst the school occupied all other areas of the building (other than the initial site set up week and a 2 week Christmas holiday break).
