MOODY CONSTRUCTION DELIVERS SOCIAL VALUE

As part of our contractual commitment on the refurbishment of Beyond Housing’s Redcar Depot Moody Construction Ltd agree to deliver social value to deserving local communities in and around the East Cleveland area in which Beyond Housing provide housing and services. This commitment not only included a monetary commitment but also a pledge of time to benefit local clubs, charities and the like.

The social value provided included:-

Sponsorship of community clean up days – MCL sponsored and attended a number of community clean up days in Redcar and Southbank. The local community clean up days offered residence the free use of skips and council vehicles to dispose of any unwanted items, a litter pick with the local school students involved and a barbeque at the end of the day for the local community.

We promised to pledge 2 half days per month during the contract period to help local communities. This included assistance with ground maintenance at the local football and rugby clubs, mentoring at a local judo club and help at a local scout facility.

There was also provision of some charity sponsorship and further sponsorship for a local running club and grassroots football academy.

MCL also provided mentoring and training for Beyond Housing apprentices and provided work experience for a college student.

The final piece of the social jigsaw came with the donation and delivery of some building materials to Beyond Housing’s “Westfields Farm” project in Redcar. Westfields Farm is a community and resources hub providing the free use of computers, a job club, training courses, a kitchen, café, meeting rooms along with an allotment where they grow their own produce for ale and use in the café.
