THIRSK RACECOURSE NEW GRANDSTAND

Moody Construction Ltd have been awarded the new contract to construct the new grandstand at Thirsk racecourse and works are now well underway.

THIRSK RACECOURSE GRANDSTAND Contract was awarded in October 2025 with works starting on site in with the demolition of the existing grandstand building and commencement of groundworks in November.

The new building will provide a large public bar on the ground floor with two bars, male, female and accessible toilets along with two betting facilities. There will also be an “outside bar” which will serve a terrace on the racecourse side of the building.

The first floor will house the restaurant along with associated catering kitchen, bar, toilets and betting facilities, this floor also provides external terraces overlooking both the parade ring/winners enclosure and the racecourse.

The large flat roof area provides a roof bar with curved panelled roof along with large terraces with panoramic views over both the paddock and the racecourse. All floors of the building are accessed by both stairs, passenger and goods lifts. there is also an external staircase to provide access to the terraces and a link to the adjacent chestnut suite roof terrace.

We have completed a number of schemes at Thirsk Racecourse over the last couple of years and the his the largest and most prestigious one yet. The new facility will provide a much improved experience for race goers and be a fantastic asset the the racecourse.
